Segression Gig @ The Espy, Melbourne in News, Reviews

Recently we had the pleasure of hanging out with the guys from Segression (Chris Rand, Red, Shane Partridge & Michael Katselos) at their Melbourne gig (The Espy Hotel, St Kilda) and i must say, there is a reason these guys got voted best live act (among other things) in a reputable metal mag back in the day. Having been on a hiatus, that wasn’t really a hiatus… as Chris says, they just were doing so much stuff that they ‘lost track of time’… this ‘stuff’ included building their own studio among other things and now with a new album released they are back with a vengeance. It seems the new album is just them being them according to Chris Rand, founding member, vocalist and bass player and i have to say, and forgive me if i’m wrong but Segression remind me of Slayer! Both play thrash, both have a lead vocalist that plays bass as well, and i cant help but notice that Chris from Segression and Tom from Slayer LOOK similar also?!? I’ll let you guys be the judge….

All in all a fucking great night, not as big a crowd as their Sydney gig at the Annandale Hotel which was sold out and is a fantastic venue (probably due to Melbourne’s lovely weather – it was about 8 degrees Celsius with a wind chill factor of about zero), however had a good chat to the band and met some cool new guys from Radio Monash (whose audio interview and show you can checkout at Radio Monash or podcast KG Rocks Online
